1 RULES
1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules Of Sailing, 2025-2028.and adapted as required to suit the specific requirements with regard to Windsurfers
2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be posted on the online official notice board no later than 24H00 on 27th February 2026 and will be available at registration.
3 COMMUNICATION
3.1 The online official notice board is located at www.sbyc.co.za.
3.2 In addition the organising authority and Race Committee will communicate with competitors via the Windsurfer WhatsApp group for the event. Note that this is not the Official Notice Board.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The regatta is open to all Windsurfers that meet the stipulated class standards.
4.2 A minimum of 7 boats are required to constitute a Class.
4.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form and submitting it, together with the fee, as directed on the website www.sbyc.co.za. Online registration is also on www.sbyc.co.za
4.4 To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall complete all registration requirements and pay all fees.
4.5 Entries will be accepted until 1000 on 28th February 2026.
4.6 The race office will be in the regatta centre located at the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club.
5 FEES

6 ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.
7 SCHEDULE
7.1 Registration: Friday 27th February from 16H30 – 19H00 and Saturday 28th Febryary from 07H00 – 10H00 at the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club or Blue Bay Lodge site.
7.2 Dates of racing: 28th February and 1st March 2026
7.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on 28th February is 12H00.
7.4 A maximum of 6 races are scheduled, and no more than 4 races shall be sailed on any given day.
7.5 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 14H00.
8 MEASUREMENT
8.1 On request Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate as required by their respective class rules.
8.2 Boats shall be available for spot equipment inspection at any time during the regatta.
9 SUPPORT PERSON VESSELS
Support person vessels shall be marked with white flag. Support vessels are requested to please notify that they will be at the event via an e-mail to sailing@sbyc.co.za.
10 PRIZES
Prizes will be given to the top 3 in each class with 7 or more entries.
11 RISK STATEMENT
RRS 3 states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.” Competitors participate in this event entirely at their own risk. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
12 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover equivalent to the SA Sailing Intasure Insurance Policy.

Windsurfing Regatta 2026 Logistics Update
Meeting and Launch Location: Blue Bay Lodge
- Boards and trailers can be stored at Blue Bay Lodge.
- The launch area will be from the beach in front of the Blue Bay Lodge.
- Boards can be left on the lawn in front of the Blue Bay Lodge between races.
- The group will be meeting at the Blue Bay Lodge on Saturday morning (February 28).
Regatta Centre and Club Activity
- The regatta centre is at the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club.
- Note that the club will be busy on Saturday due to the overlapping Mykonos Bay race for keel boats.
