Enter a world of excitement and exploration at the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club (SBYC)! Our Junior programme is tailored for youth ages 7 to 18, providing the perfect platform to learn the art of sailing while building valuable life skills in a safe and family-centred environment.

What We Offer

Professional Training

Learn to sail with confidence. Our trained instructors ensure safety while you discover the fun of social or competitive sailing with our Optimist and Mirror dinghies.

The Optimist

Designed for ages 8 to 17, excellent for learning and exploring sailing skills.

The Mirror

A versatile two-person dinghy suitable for all ages, building skills and creating enjoyable and family-friendly sailing experiences.

Racing Thrills

Feel the excitement of dinghy racing, improving your sailing and boat skills no matter your experience level. When you’re ready, you’ll have opportunities to take part in national and international sailing competitions!

Boat Rental

Rent a boat and start your sailing adventure hassle-free! No need to own your own boat – simply rent and dive into the sailing world, exploring the seas at your own pace.

Clubhouse Amenities

Our dedicated clubhouse is a special spot where young sailors can bond, learn, and make friends. The Yacht Club is a place for families to gather, socialise, and enjoy the beauty of Saldanha Bay together.

There are 6 levels of competitions

Weekly sailing at SBYC. Represent SBYC at:
Inter school sports,
Inter club challenges,
Provincial Championships,
National Championships and
World Championships.
