1 RULES

1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules Of Sailing.

1.2 SA Sailing Regulations for Regional Championships apply.

2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be posted on the online official notice board no later than 0800 on 25th April 2025 and will be available at registration.

3 COMMUNICATION

3.1 The online official notice board is located at www.sbyc.co.za.

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

4.1 The regatta is open to all dinghy classes.

4.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form and submitting it, together with the fee, as directed on the website www.sbyc.co.za by 23rd April 2025. Online registration is also on www.sbyc.co.za

4.3 To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall complete all registration requirements and pay all fees.

4.4 Entries will be accepted until 0900 on 23rd April 2025.

4.5 All competitors shall be members in good standing of SA Sailing and of a yacht club affiliated to and in good standing with SA Sailing (or their equivalent in the case of non-South Africans) and legally permitted to compete.

4.6 Proof of such membership shall be presented at registration.

4.7 The race office will be located at the main hall in the Saldanha Bay Municipal Camp Site.

5 FEES

Entry fees are as follows:
R900 double handed and R750 single handed per boat, payable into the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club account:

6 Optimist Class Selection Event

6.1 The event will be a selection event for the Optimist Class. Eligible sailors can enter the selection event by paying an additional fee of R200/sailor to the Optimist Class account with the reference Selections Name.

7 ADVERTISING

[DP] Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.

8 SCHEDULE

8.1 Registration: Friday 25th April from 1630 – 1900 and Saturday 26th April from 0700 – 0900 at the Saldanha Municipal Campsite.

8.2 Dates of racing: 26 27 & 28 April 2025

8.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on 26th April is 1100.8.

4 A maximum of 8 races are scheduled for all classes except 29er/49er. A maximum of 12 races are scheduled for 29er/49er.

8.5 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 1500.

9 MEASUREMENT

9.1 Boats shall be available for equipment inspection at any time during the regatta.

10 SUPPORT PERSON VESSELS

Support person vessels shall be marked with white flag.

11 PRIZES

Prizes will be given to the top 3 in each class with 5 or more entries and to an open class for classes with fewer than 5 entries. Medals will be awarded in accordance with the SA Sailing Regulations for Regional Championships.

12 RISK STATEMENT

RRS 3 states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.” Competitors participate in this event entirely at their own risk. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

13 INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of R2mln per incident or the equivalent.

14 ACCOMMODATION, FACILITIES and REFRESHMENTS

Information re the above can be found on the SBYC website www.sbyc.co.za on the appropriate events page. The organisers have block booked the entire Saldanha Bay Municipal Campsite and Bungalows exclusively for the event. Reservations for bungalows or campsites can be made and paid for directly online on the SBYC website.

15 LAUNCHING

15.1 Optimist, ILCA and Mirror Classes are requested to launch from the beach in front of the Saldanha Municipal Campsite.

15.2 420, 29er, 49er and Saldanha Classes are requested to launch from the SBYC slipway.
