A large amount (~40%) of our yachts do not have a current COF according to our records.
Those yachts <9m must have a Club COF issued by a Safety Officer, a copy of this goes to Bev. Those yachts >9m must book a COF via the SAS website, complete the relevant check sheet and provide the Safety Officer with a copy of the pop so that the COF may be carried out.
The owner is responsible to send a copy of the COF to Bev to keep the records updated.
Similarly, those yachts >9m must have a valid Hull Inspection certificate in place otherwise SAS will not issue the COF.
All the above is contained within section 3 of the byelaws and failure to conform may (should!) lead to rescindment. (NB: Exactly the same requirements are in force for insurance)
Please also note that in some cases, the lack of a COF may cause the insurers to refute a claim
The Committee has decided to concentrate more on this issues following the AGM…
