Message from our Commodore
The Summer season is in full swing, we have had two very successful racing events at SBYC this month, the West Coast Offshore Race on the 17th and 18th and the Carol Middleton Memorial Race on the 25th, both events attracted over 100 people to the club for the dinners, we served 130 steak meals at the West Coast Offshore Race and Albie Carstens’ team from Cartol served over 100 Spit braai meals on Saturday evening! The “Carol Middleton Memorial Race” had 23 entries of which 18 started, JML 2, our development girls team made a good decision to return to the club, when the wind and sea conditions became a bit more than what they were comfortable with, great job ladies, you’ll definitely do it next time!
One of the greatest feelings is to receive such positive feedback from everyone who took part in these events, on how well organised everything is and how smoothly the events went, thank you to everyone who gave up their time to assist with these events and make them such a huge success.
A very big thank you Craig Middleton, Peter Theunissen and his company, “Albion Press”, and Albie Carstens of “Cartol” butchery for their sponsorship of the “Carol Middleton Memorial Race”, without your generous support, the race would not have been such big success, Thank you!
As the Festive Season approaches, I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you who have assisted the club this past year, in volunteer work and/or very generous contributions to help our club remain the special place it is.
If you are going to be travelling over the festive season, please do so safely, otherwise, we hope to see you all enjoying the holidays at the club and on the water,
