Unfortunately, we were targeted again by local criminals and two rubber ducks with engines and the fuel tank and fittings of the club dinghy were stolen off the jetty mid-month. Clearly the thieves are becoming even bolder! Therefore, it is in your own interest to not leave items of value around for them to target…outboards in particular. Please take the extra time and effort to take your important and expensive items away and lock them securely in the storage shed/garages. We have made changes to our groundsmen’s patrol route and timings so they are more visible outside, however, make no mistake, the villains are watching us and they can see what is happening and they target what they want to steal, so to leave it out is basically asking them to come and take it. We are looking for a smallish guard-house/Wendy-house/wheelhouse which can be situated with a clear view of the jetty and the possibility of putting a monitor there so our groundsmen can view all the cameras also.
We are planning to get the racing going again, once the sailing season starts. We experienced a low number of participants turning up for the racing during the last season so during a discussion, the committee has suggested having “one Saturday per month racing”, if you have any suggestions or would like to get involved in the organizing of the races and bridge work, please contact the committee.
We received some sad news last week, past member and committee member, John Davies, has passed away, John and Jackie and their two sons, Alistair and Stuart were members from the late 1980’s up until they sold their Dudley Dix Caribbea 30 “Flirt” in the early 2000’s, those of you who remember John, will remember the really fun social events such as the St Patricks day parties and the New Year’s Eve Parties he organized, our Condolences to Jackie, Alistair and Stuart. May he rest in peace?
