SBYC - Saldanha Bay Yacht Club

Are you ready for the start of the season at your favourite Yacht Club? This is, of course, the weekend of 10th - 12th September.

We'll start off on Friday evening from18:00 - 19:30 with a choice of two cocktails -either Electric Lemonade or Purple Haze - and a few (very few) bar snacks, to relish the ambience of the newly upgraded bar. This will be followed by the normal Friday night "chitter and chatter". While you are there, submit your entry for Saturday's race, as closing time is 18:00 on Friday.

On Saturday is the race of the season - the Commodore's Cup. This is a pursuit race and is planned, weather permitting, to go around Jutten Island. Find the Notice of Race on the Calendar page of www.sbyc.co.za or on the notice board at the Club. If you aren't sailing, you won't enjoy it!

For those of you who will be at the club during this race, our bar people will be Winston and Lynn. Thanks to them, we can stay open for cold beers, drinks, coffee, tea and even a few snacks to buy - crisps, peanuts, biltong etc - during racing. So far we have raised R1750 towards bar stools, with a few more promises and have received a R100 donation towards the garden. Thanks to all!

We are having a WORK party on Saturday morning, starting at 10-ish, to clear out the Oppie Shed, the Communal boat shed and the Club's garage. The grounds also need a general tidy-up. All you need is some elbow grease and working clothes.

Pies and REAL gravy will be on sale afterwards. Please try to be there to assist with getting OUR Club ship-shape.

The weather report for Saturday is PERFECT - 11knots from the NW, swells of only 1,6m. Join us - we are going to find the snoek. Rumour has it that they are still in our waters. Get your tackle and your license and let's go. We have space on Liberty if anyone wants to leap aboard - let me know.

We should be able to braai fresh snoek on Saturday night!
