SBYC is known for its relaxed social atmosphere. Almost every night you will find members enjoying a braai, having a drink in the bar with resident wizard Mike, or relaxing in the lounge area with a book in front of the TV.

Various themed social events are held each year ranging from a Pirates evening to a Hobo Fish and Chips night. Crew from visiting yachts take out their musical instruments and provide live music, members haul out mini-bicycles and burn some rubber (or skin/carpet) in the bar...
